Wie geht das? Sicherheit prüfen – der Hamburger TÜV (AT)

in Produktion / NDR

A TÜV-badge secures quality and security – and not only for vehicles. The employees of “TÜV Nord” in Hamburg Sellingen examine countless products, we all deal with every day, such as toys, microwaves, textiles, food – but also power plants, fabrication plants, gas pipelines, data networks and satellites. The TÜV is always responsible for checks when it comes to eliminate danger. “Wie geht das?” shows which duties the technical surveillance association performs.
We accompany an auditor from the “lifting devices”-department, who brings us to some significant places in Hamburg. We are at his side when he examines amusement rides at the Hamburger DOM, the safety of the container bridge at the harbor or the most famous elevators in town like e.g. the one in the “Michel”, the one in the Old Elbe Tunnel or the one in the River Side Hotel.
We climb wind turbines and take water samples, which are examined in the new 15-Million-Euro -environmental-laboratory (which opens in autumn 2018). Meanwhile scientists are working on Virtual Reality glasses in the future laboratory.
