In almost every households’ bathroom one can find skin cream. It is no longer just women who do something for their skin. Sales of skin care creams specially made for men are increasing continuously.
The pharmacist Oskar Troplowitz made a small miracle in 1911 when he first formed water and oil into a stable cream using the emulsifier Eucerit. It was the birth of a global brand that started its journey around the world from Hamburg and today employs 18,934 people worldwide – 1290 in the research and development department alone. Every day at Beiersdorf in Eimsbüttel 71 tonnes of cream are produced and up to 150 million cans are delivered each year – all from Hamburg, since 2003 the cream has been produced exclusively in the Hanseatic city.
