As chief inspector Jan Katz (Sebastian Schipper) discovers the body of a child in a car boot he is quickly aware that it might be a refugee drama. At the same time, federal police officers Thorsten Falke (Wotan Wilke Möhring) and Katharina Lorenz (Petra Schmidt-Schaller) are investigating a case of document forgery and people trafficking. The brutal murder of a respectable employee eventually lead the investigators to the heart of a Syrian community and a man who fled the civil war and whose presence in Oldenburg has provoked a drama among friends.
