Der Wattführer:
Mit dem „Herrn der Köge“ unterwegs

For 30 years now Dr. Walther Petersen-Andresen has worked in the mudflats. He is responsible for the preservation of the so called polders. Polders are flat meadows that emerged through dike building and drainage. They are, among others, a home to endangered birds. But also some farmers want to use the polders ecologically. Petersen has to arbitrate between ecology and economy. He offers walks across the mudflats for tourists on the “Hallig Oland”. There he draws attention to the importance of preserving the World Cultural Heritage Wadden Sea.

We accompany the biologist Walther Petersen-Andresen doing his daily work which consists of discussions with the farmers, water level checks on the damp meadows and mapping of breeding birds in the reeds.
