Between November and January, the Albers family has to produce and prepare around 3,000 down quilts by hand for their shivering clientele, ranging from hotels to private customers. We accompany the team around father and managing director Christoph Albers as they conquer these mountains of feathers. The precious feathers are fetched from friendly goose breeders in the winter season and then processed in impressive old machines before being filled into handmade blankets and pillows – just as they were when the company was founded in 1900. In the process, we get to know the team that has grown over the decades and the Albers family’s old factory, and cheer along as daughter Frederike aims to bring a breath of fresh ecological air to the whole store.
