When Sophie moves into the apartment that she wants to grow old in, together with the man of her dreams, he tells her that he cannot leave his family at this point. Sophie fights for her relationship, alternating between patience, understanding, and pressure, so that this may only be a prolonged wait for her, and not the end altogether. But Hannah, an experienced retiree, opens her eyes to the truth of the situation. At last, Sophie eventually tries to hang on as a mere lover, but in the end she finds another way of living that ensures that she will definitely not grow old alone – even if she has no male partner at her side.
