Sonja Zimmerschitt, born in 1965, studied in Cologne, Trier and Minneapolis (M.A. in art history, German studies, TV journalism). In addition to her freelance editorial work for ZDF, RTL2, and NDR, she also worked for various international theaters and museums. From 1994 to 1999, when she was employed by Trebitsch Produktion Holding as dramatic advisor and producer, she made comedies, series and features mainly for ZDF, among them “Eine Herzensangelegenheit” based on the novel by Roswitha Quadflieg with Martin Benrath.
1999 she became an editor with ARD/Degeto Film in Frankfurt. She was responsible for smash-hit productions like the Utta-Danella-mini-series, “Liebe, Lügen, Leidenschaften” with Maximilian Schell, and the adaptation of the novel by Christian Pfannenschmidt “Der Seerosenteich”. From 2002 to 2005, she produced some successful comedies and features for Multimedia Film- und Fernsehproduktion Hamburg, among them “Mein süßes Geheimnis” by Sophia Krapoth and Xaver Schwarzenberger (ARD/Degeto/SWR). Since 2006 she works as a producer of fiction programs for Cinecentrum Hamburg. Examples of her features are an adaptation of a Diana Stainforth-novel, “Die grünen Hügel von Wales” (ARD/Degeto/NDR), directed by Andi Niessner, or “Schatten der Gerechtigkeit”, a cop-thriller written by Stefan Kolditz and directed by Hans-Günther Bücking (SAT1/Int. Filmfestival Munich 2009).
